Eisendrath Center for Water Conservation

The beautiful 1930 2-story Pueblo revival style adobe structure is set with period furniture and galleries with interpretive educational panels highlighting the famed Arizona architect, Robert Thomas Evans and the importance of adobe revival in our valley in the 30’s and 40’s. About Chicagoan Rose Eisendrath, the builder and her family who visited the “wild west”.  A gallery dedicated to the history of water in our state, water conservation and sustainability education and best practices highlighting education partner SRP.

Eisendrath Center for Water Conservation is the first of its kind. A culturally and historically important home, the Rio Salado Foundation and our donor partners have restored the property for use as a water conservation center which will house the City of Tempe’s Water Conservation Department. The home serves as a unique special event venue and visitor’s center offering docent lead tours by appointment by Tempe Historic Preservation Foundation docents.

• Restoration of the original Eisendrath House from floor to ceiling including the physical structure and modifications to meet current safety standards and modern conveniences.
• Rose Eisendrath Interpretive Center and Special Event Venue– The life of this strong woman, the career of architect and master builder Robert T. Evans and other aspects of the history and restoration of the home and site is described in messages and displays throughout the home and property. A docent program created by the Tempe Historic Preservation Foundation conducts public tours of the historic home on Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 am – 3 pm. The historic house is also a small special event venue with entertainment spaces on the terraces and back flagstone patio with fountain.
• City of Tempe’s Water Conservation Program – City offices will be located at the Eisendrath Center. Residents and visitors will be able to obtain information on water conservation and other sustainable practices.    http://www.tempe.gov/conservation
• SRP Water Education Facility – A free standing state of the art education building used for water conservation classes as well as meeting space in a unique setting where civic, educational and neighborhood organizations hold meetings, classes and special events upon request.

• Restoration was completed in November 2015.
